Christian Legal Aid of Southeast Michigan

Our story: Christian Legal Aid of Southeast Michigan (CLASM) is a group of volunteer  attorneys and other caring individuals. Since 2002 we have provided free legal assistance to low income neighbors at our clinics located in Detroit or Pontiac. We are a Christian organization, though we serve clients regardless of religious affiliation. We receive no government funds and are completely supported by private donations.

Our mission: We equip and assist Christian lawyers and advocates to provide legal counsel for the poor, and to provide spiritual counsel and prayer, including sharing the Gospel, to willing clients.

Our vision: To advance justice for the poor and to promote the Gospel through legal and spiritual counsel to the southeast Michigan community.

Our doctrine: Jesus Christ is Lord, the whole Bible is wholly true, God has an eternal plan for each believer’s life, and that plan includes forgiveness and reconciliation with God.

Our services: To the extent we have volunteer attorneys available, we offer free basic legal advice for people in southeast Michigan, and do not offer full representation. Any assistance given beyond this is at the sole discretion of the volunteer attorney and requires a separate agreement with the volunteer attorney. We do not advise on immigration or criminal matters.

We provide legal advice to those in need regardless of faith or any other category.
